Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven
Here's the lesson summary for last week:Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as
it is in heaven.
This is the second line of the Lord's prayer and when we pray this, we are inviting God to come into our lives. We are telling Him that He is our King.
What does it mean when someone is King?
It means He is in control and that we lead our lives, folliwng His rules and boundaries (which are found in the Bible.)
We no longer sit on the thrones of our lives and do as we please to get what we want. We let Him sit on the throne and do His will, what He wants for us. For His will is perfect!
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act
of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
So how do we know what His will is?
Through the people around us (our family, our small group etc.)
Through the Word of God (when we read the Bible or listen to a sermon)
Through spending time with God (praying or doing quiet time)
(Note that all these should be aligned with the teaching in the Bible, i.e. they should not contradict each other.)
Often we tend to try and take control and pull God off the throne. Hence, we need God's strength, the people around us (to keep us accountable) and to have discipline to continually surrender our lives to Him. Help one another in this aspect ya?
