Breakfast Time!
Hey everyone! I have returned from Germany/London in one piece and would like to thank you all for your prayers over the past week! :)This Sunday, there's going to be no worship, so Chuu Ling and I were thinking of bringing you all for breakfast somewhere nearby. The question is: Where? The last time we attempted this, I was quite surprised to find that you all are quite anti-McDonald's (even though they have a lovely hotcakes+sausage combo set which is just divine). So here's your chance to voice your preference so that we will all be happy campers come Sunday :)
On a separate note, here's a video which I wanted to post previously in light of our lesson on whether all paths lead to God. The guys dressed in suits are Mormons and belong to a cult that has some loose Christian roots. This highlights the importance of knowing what you believe in so that you won't get tricked by people who come along to challenge you.

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, 'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.'The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one, and the holy man looked into a room with a large round table in the middle.
In the center, on the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled so delicious it made the holy man's mouth water.
Yet, the people sitting around the table were thin, sickly, and appeared famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles strapped to their arms.
Each found they could reach into the stew-pot and take a spoonful, but with the handle longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons close to their mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering and the Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.'
He then opened the second door.
The room was exactly as the first one, with the large round table and large pot of stew, again making the holy man's mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons strapped to their arms, but here the people were well nourished, plump, laughing and talking.
The holy man said, 'I don't understand.' 'It is simple,' said the Lord, 'and requires but one skill. As you see, they have learned to feed each other, while the selfish think only of themselves.' When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you.

Do all religions lead to God?
This was the lesson on Sunday. Please do ask us questions if you don't understand anything ya? =)In this day and age, where our world is becoming a global village, racial, cultural and religious harmony is encouraged. People should learn to be tolerant (note that being tolerant does not mean that you agree) of each other’s habits and beliefs.
But many mistake this to mean that all religions are equally true and are valid paths to God. That when reduced to the core beliefs, all religions are essentially the same. This is NOT true! Why?
There are fundamental differences between various religions.
• Hinduism believes in many gods; whatever works, goes. But Christianity has only one God.
• Judaism (Jews) believes that the Messiah has not arrived yet and is still waiting but we believe that Jesus is the Messiah.
• Islam believes that Jesus was just a prophet and that He was not crucified. He did not and cannot pay for our sin but we believe that He did.
*Only Christianity believes that God became human to save us. Other religions have laws that dictate how we must work to save/deliver ourselves but Christianity is all about grace. (We do good deeds in response to what God has already done for us, not because we are earning our way to heaven. We cannot earn our way to heaven, it is impossible.)
*Only Jesus resurrected from the dead and He is alive today! Jesus’ coming was prophesised hundred of years before He came, He led a life of miracles and great teachings, and He died for our sins and rose again.
These differences cannot be reconciled, you can only believe in one or the other.
Isaiah 44:6 "This is what the LORD says— Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.”
We all want to live in a world in which noone does anything wrong. But the fact is noone is perfect and so noone is fit to be in a perfect world. God is a holy God and He cannot tolerate any sin.
Romans 3:21-24 “21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
We have all sinned. We cannot save ourselves and we need to be forgiven, we need help that is stronger than human help. We need God.
God, in His infinite grace, sent Jesus. Jesus’ blood covers us. He makes us perfect in God’s sight.
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." ”
No other religion will do. Only Jesus can lead us to God. Jesus, son of God, our sacrificial lamb, our High priest.

[EDITED] Organising an outing
Hello! Melanie and myself were talking online just now and since it's the holidays now, anyone wants to go out? Girls and/or boys? Chuu Ling? Marcus? If so, maybe we can organise it on weekdays? Weekends not very convenient for some people (you all should know from the last outing). Okay, so you all vote:1. Whether or not to have an outing
2. What days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat or Sun
3. Where to go and what to do: (I ommitted movies & shopping cos' its so common!) ECP (Can go to the beach and cycle or rollerblade)
Perhaps Marcus and Chuu Ling can rent chalets for us (as in they fully subsidize the chalet fees) and we can 'camp' there! I'm sure MTV-ians wouldn't mind right? ;) Marcus, Chuu Ling, 就等你们点头了哦！
I don't mind going to ECP! (: Hope to get replies!
P.S. If you really want chalet better put down as a comment. So got proof to show Marcus and Chuu Ling!!! ;)

[My (Rachel's) suggestion] Can I put the username and password up in a post, or maybe in the template??? Then it'll be easier this way. Besides, I don't think outsiders (meaning other NON-MTV-ians) will actually bother to sign in and destroy our blog. This way, if anyone forgets the username and password, they can refer to the blog. Comments anyone? And thanks, Chuu Ling for explaining the Holy Trinity diagram. I get it now! :D

The Trinity
Here's a quick recap of what we covered today...- God is One (Deuteronomy 6:4)
- God is 3 persons -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17)
- Each of the persons of God is of the same essence and is not inferior or superior to the others in essence
- Each has a different role to play
Remember that it is not a relationship of 3 Gods, but God who is 3 persons. As I mentioned in class, the Trinity is a mystery that we will never be able to understand fully, but if you have any further questions about it, do feel free to approach either Chuu Ling or myself and we'll try our best to answer you.

Marcus's LINK
Hello, I visited the link that Marcus gave... just don't be fooled by it. Its so obvious that I think I will die laughing, Let me try and explain the trick to the moving dancer. It is obviously a computer-generated image that plays with your mind - interesting, But its not really an optical illusion. In fact, the reason that they ask you to concentrate on the picture is due to the time lag that requires the dancer to change direction. I was studying the dancer instead of concentrating on it. Those who don't see it changing, too bad. If I can, I can try to do a frame by frame print-screen for you guys. Too bad but I don't know for sure whether it can tell if you are a left-brainer or a right-brainer. Its quite a cool website. Should visit it one day. And to Rachel, have a good holiday.

Hey everyone, it's great to see that you've got the blog up and running :) as I was telling Rachel, I had thought of setting up one for you guys previously, but was sidelined by procrastination and general lack of time.
